Events

HIS mission provides many opportunities to get to know other students, make new friends, and experience American hospitality.

  • A picnic in the fall is especially helpful and fun for new arrivals
  • International Friendship Partners help make the Thanksgiving holiday special by hosting students in their homes for Thanksgiving meals
  • Students and International Friendship partners enjoy a Christmas party and Valentine’s Day dinner every year
  • HIS Mission has a Movie club for attending appropriate and popular movies

Trips

Trips offer international students the chance to see other cities and sights in the United States and experience the outdoors. Past trips have included the following:

  • Trips to the Smoky Mountains
  • Hiking, camping, skating trips
  • Trips to Atlanta  for groups to enjoy sightseeing and shopping at China Town and ethnic stores that carry imported foods from the students’ homelands. Students are taken to Atlanta once a year  for a three-day weekend. Housing transportation, sightseeing, food and a musical play are all included for a nominal fee (approximately $45.00 per person)
  • Sightseeing trips to New Orleans, Florida, the Grand Canyon, California, Niagra Falls, Washington, D.C. and other areas are offered
